Stuart Hedleywild plants and vegetation

  • Involved in the NVC prior to its publication and with several NVC datasets themselves drawing heavily upon my earlier survey work, I bring many years of experience to this standard UK method and undertake surveys of all types. Such familiarity permits rapid type-ascription, an understanding of poor fit and its significance, and subtle place-typing. A thorough knowledge of vegetative plant material permits me to work late into the year where necessary. For some recent work see a major new Site of Special Scientific Interestand Stories from the Tees' Mouth

  • I offer efficient Phase 1 capability or BAP habitat-ascription through the use of aerial imagery, targeted fieldwork and understanding of problematic vegetation.

I have experience in organising field teams. For some recent work see The Lanchester Enclosures.

  • Targeted species surveys can provide insight into the fortunes of plants of conservation concern through exhaustive searching, GPS referencing, the setting up of monitoring baselines and management planning and literature searches.
